Beautiful North Star Lake has been named Minneapolis Star Tribune's  "Lake of the Week" on

several occasions, & many outdoor publications have featured North Star over the years.

North Star produces nice baskets of Crappies, Bluegills & Rock Bass,

& is well known for it’s large Northern Pike, Walleyes, Largemouth & Smallmouth Bass.

North Star is one of Minnesota’s top trophy Muskellunge lakes.

Kids love fishing right off our docks.

Uncrowded North Star Lake is a pristine, spring fed 1,052 acre lake

3 1/2 miles long x 1/2 mile wide with varying depths down to 90’.

North Star consists of many bays, points, islands and great underwater structure.

The lakeshore is mostly undeveloped & surrounded by National Forest land.

There’s always a quiet, calm spot to fish with little boat traffic.

Located in the heart of the Chippewa National Forest, North Star offers

challenging fishing & abundant recreation amidst breathtaking scenery with

15 miles of shoreline & clean, clear water.

 It’s a fisherman’s paradise and a water-lover's dream.

Big Timber is conveniently located near the Chippewa National Forest public boat landing

on North Star, which is the safest boat launch on the lake.

Once launched, you can tie your boat up to our docks.

We feature free use of an Alumacraft fishing boat, or a free dock space for your own boat.

We also offer free lake maps, & lake advice on catching that whopper.

Enjoy the use of our well-kept fish cleaning house to prepare your catch as well as

use of our dockside boat house with individual storage lockers and electrical outlets.

The boat house is a great place to recharge batteries & keep your gear out of the elements.

Besides the excellent fishing on North Star Lake, you can also try your luck at

one or more of over 100 other unspoiled lakes within a short distance of Big Timber.

Our county, Itasca, has over 1000 lakes in it.

From nearby pine fringed lakes with well-maintained public accesses, to remote,

seldom visited lakes hidden away amongst the forest covered hills,

you can experience the fishing adventure of a lifetime.
